Mr Big has a new home and a new name!

Just a quick update to let you know that Mr Big has arrived safely in Melbourne. Oscar's mum has already been around to visit and give him some lovely chin scritchies, which Mr Big was more than happy to receive. And by the way, Mr Big's new beandad has renamed him 'Mr Crumples'. How adorable!

Will post a more detailed update later...

Happy day

I am feeling very happy today!

It's certainly been a very good day in the poodin world. Everything is falling into place with arrangements for Mr Big. It looks like he will soon be off to Melbourne to start a new life with Oscar's mum's friend.

**News flash** And of course the HUGE news of the day is the lovely Luna has been found! We are soooo very happy that she is now home again with her family!! I'm gonna go visit Luna's site now and leave her a welcome home message. :)

Mr Big: update 2

Oscar's mum has found someone who might be able to accompany Mr Big from Canberra to Melbourne (see Oscar's update here). She's just waiting to hear back from her about whether she is able to help, and if so, when. We should know more in a few days.

Meanwhile, the guy who is hoping very much to be Mr Big's new beandad is getting very excited. He has been telling Oscar's mum every day how much he's looking forward to Mr Big's arrival!

I think Mr Big looks beautiul, but a little bit sad, in this photo. Must be because he didn't know at the time how many poodins and poodin lovin' beans there are who are trying to help him find the wonderful furrever home that he deserves!

Mr Big: update

Thought I'd better give everyone an update on Mr Big.

Firstly, thanks to everyone for their concern, comments, questions and suggestions about Mr Big. What a lovely group of poodins and beans you are!

Upon hearing Mr Big's story, a friend of Oscar's mum said "there is a kitty shaped hole in my life right now". Isn't that so sweet? Oscar's mum says that he is a gentle person who loves poodins, so he sounds perfect.

I've put Oscar's mum in touch with my friend who'd forwarded me Mr Big's story, who put her in touch with the lady looking after Mr Big. BTW, I later discovered that Mr Big's temporary carer is actually someone from my friend's brother's work, not my friends work - what a good network of poodin people! :)

One complication here is that Oscar's mum's friend is in Melbourne and Mr Big is in Canberra. These two cities are about 8 hours drive apart!

Will keep you posted on Mr Big's story...

Mr Big needs a furrever home

Received a forwarded email from a friend today about a kitty in need. He's an absolutely gorgeous kitty who's been abandoned and is looking for a furrever home. See pictures and story below. This kitty is in Canberra, Australia. If you think you might be able to help out, send me an email (see the Contact link in the side bar) or post a comment here with a contact email address.

Mr Big's story
(forwarded to me from a friend)

A couple of months ago, I discovered that my neighbour had moved out and left her two cats behind to fend for themselves!! One was a little three-legged malnourished waif, now known as Kitty (and now very much over-nourished!), who I adopted even before this excuse for a pet owner had left.

The second cat is a rather large and fluffy gentleman, now known as Mr Big. He didn't hang round much when his 'owner' was around, but now she's gone he's always around. As I have the little Kitty and I'm also looking after a friend's cat for an extended period, I can't give Mr Big the attention he deserves. The poor boy was hanging around and of course I fed him and patted him when I could. But unfortunately the other cats hate him (I think he is very good at protecting his territory!). He disappeared for a few days recently and has come back with big patches of fur missing from his sides (you can't see in the pics because he's so fluffy, but the patches are about 10cm diameter each) and his fur is getting matted in patches. I will be trimming it for him next weekend.

I am hoping to find him a home before I eventually relent and take him to the RSPCA. I have no idea of his history, how old he is or anything, but he's a gorgeous cat, so responsive and friendly and just wants some TLC. He is big and quite heavy, and will roll on his back to have his tummy rubbed at a moment's notice. He miaows a bit neurotically (hasn't had enough attention paid to him) but as soon as you sit with him for a bit he is quiet and just wants to be loved.

I will trim his fur and brush him (he adores this), keep him fed and worm him for his new owner (I thought he might have been wormed before, so I hadn't done it, but he's been homeless for a while now, so I'm going to do it). Please bear in mind this boy hasn't had a vet check up and is unlikely to have been immunised or anything for a while. He would also do better in a home where there aren't other cats as he has a bit of a 'tough' attitude! If the other cats can stand up to him, I'm sure he'd relax into it though. He is fine with dogs, as long as they're friendly.

Bunny paws

Canberra BKY'know when us poodins get all relaxed and snoozy, and sometimes we lift our paws up and curl them over? Jasmine calls that 'doing bunny paws'. For some reason she thinks it's the most wonderful thing and gets all excited. So when she saw this picture on Cute Overload, she made me post it. She said it was one of the most magnificent examples of 'bunny paws' she'd ever seen.

Three new adopted poodins

It was Jasmine's birthday last week. She was turning the big three-oh. When Peter asked her what she wanted to do and what she'd like for her birthday, all she said was "Poodins!" So Peter visited the Hamley's Animal Shelter (in some ways similar to the Green Wall Animal Shelter, but also different) and adopted these guys.

Three new poodinsWe haven't yet worked out what their names are, and we wondering if anycat had suggestions?

Snoozy KittyLondon BKSince they are new adoptees and they are so young, they've each been assigned a furry buddy to look after them.

Grr the poet, Cocoa the lover

Canberra BKA fellow BK, Grr, has written an awesome limerick about puttin' the bitey on fev-vers. I thought his poem was so good that I wanted to tell everyone to go read it!

Grr's brother, Cocoa, wrote a limerick for Miss Angelica. Isn't he wonderful? I'm sure no girl could resist such a sweet and sensitive poodin.
