Introducing Bear

BKJasmine made a new furry friend last week. His name is Bear and he lives with one of Jasmine's workmates. He's big, black and floofy, and he reminds me of our Catifornian poodin friends Grr, Midnight and Cocoa.

Bear is furry friendly. His people told Jasmine that even 'non-cat people' (yes, they do exist!) are won over by Bear pretty quickly because he's so lovely and so friendly.

Introducing Ebony

Ebony the Virtual Squillion from the Cat Blogosphere ShelterThis is Ebony. We adopted her from the Cat Blogosphere Shelter of Virtual Squillions. Since she's a Virtual Squillion, she prefers to hang out online rather than in gardens like her non-virtual Squillion brofurs and sisfurs.

Ebony is currently making herself at home in the sidebar of this bloggie.

Happy Valentine's Day

Happy Valentine's Day to all my poodin friends!

Have a look at this Valentine's Day card which Jasmine gave to Peter. It's obviously good because it's got BKs (black kitties) all over it. Jasmine also gave Peter this cute BK bookmark. You can never have too many BKs.

Avoiding the flashy box

Jasmine said she wanted to take a new blog headshot picture of me. I wasn't interested though, so every time she pointed the flashy box at me, I looked the other way.

One white spot

BKHi Poodin friends. Thanks so much for all the furry nice compliments you made about me in my most recent Midnight Monday picture. I really appreciate it! I'm furry purroud of my shiny furs, and I'm happy that poodins noticed how I made sure to coordinate with the colours in my choice of napping spots.

BTW, did you notice that my one-very-small-white-spot is visible in that picture? It's furry small, but you can see it if you know where to look. It's on the inside of my left ankle.

I'm a very friendly poodin

Hi Poodins. Y'know, I'm a very friendly poodin. One of the most friendly poodins a bean could ever meet. I'm not one of those scaredy shy poodins who only lets certain beans near them. I will be friends with anybean who makes even a small attempt to be friends with me.

Why is this? Well, one of the main reasons is because I LOVE scritchies and tummy tickles SO MUCH. I love them more than roast chicken, and even MORE than ham (yes Miles, it's true, I do!) If I was a scaredy poodin and ran away from every nice bean who tried to pat me, then where would that leave me? It would leave me with far fewer scritchies, that's where!

It's true that Jasmine's scritchies and tummy tickles are THE BEST EVER, but I guess if other beans don't get a chance to practice, then how are they going to become experienced scritchers like Jasmine? So, really, I'm performing a very important service for the scaredy shy poodins by allowing all friendly beans to practice their scritching on me.

Christmas BK

BKSince it's Christmas time, Jasmine made me a Christmas version of my headshot. I think it's pretty cool. I like the little stars, and the green goes well with my shiny black fur.

For today's Midnight Monday I'd like to show you another old picture of handsome Ajax. Sunlight really shows off a house panther's beautiful fur doesn't it?

Midnight Monday: Taffy

For this week's Midnight Monday, I'd like to introduce you to Taffy. Taffy lives with some of Jasmine's relatives.

In the first picture, Taffy is explaining to his beans that this is his chair. Taffy thought this should, of course, be obvious because (i) the poodin of the house always has first choice of napping/sitting locations; and (ii) Taffy put his little mousies underneath the chair indicating that he plans to hang out there for a while.

Taffy's main bean had ideas about sitting in the chair himself, but Taffy quickly explained that this wasn't going to happen.

In the second picture, Taffy is dancing and showing off his grace and agility (common traits of the house panther).

Midnight Monday: Jade and Ajax

For Midnight Monday, I thought I'd introduce you to two lovely black kitties. Their names are Jade and Ajax (they are sisfur and brofur), and they live with friends of Jasmine's. Jasmine met Jade and Ajax when they were tiny little kittens. They had endless energy and would bounce and play for hours and hours and hours.

Sadly, Ajax went to the Bridge earlier this year.

Grr the poet, Cocoa the lover

Canberra BKA fellow BK, Grr, has written an awesome limerick about puttin' the bitey on fev-vers. I thought his poem was so good that I wanted to tell everyone to go read it!

Grr's brother, Cocoa, wrote a limerick for Miss Angelica. Isn't he wonderful? I'm sure no girl could resist such a sweet and sensitive poodin.

Five things about Canberra BK and Jasmine

Here are the rules (copied from Eric and Flynn who tagged me):
The player of this game starts with 5 weird things/habits about their self. In the end, you need to choose 5 people to be tagged and list their names. The people/kitties who get tagged need to write a blog about their 5 weird things/habits, and state the rules clearly, then tag 5 more victims. Don't forget to leave your victims a comment on their blog that says, "You're tagged, read my blog for details".
Update: was just catching up on some blogs and I discovered that Sweet Ariel tagged me too!

Five things about Canberra BK

Canberra BK1. I love to have conversations. I never stop vocalising, unless I'm asleep. When I see Jasmine, I start meowing (I usually have lots to tell her). Then when Jasmine pats me and tickles my tummy, my meowing turns into purring. Then as I start to doze off, the purring gets a little quieter, but keeps going. Jasmine can always tell when I've eventually fallen asleep because that's the only time I'm quiet! :)

2. I'm very daring and not afraid of high places. Sometimes when Jasmine is in the shower and has left the bathroom door open a little bit (I ask her to because I don't like it when the door is closed!), I jump up onto the bathroom sink and then to the top edge of the shower frame so I can keep having conversations with her, and also check out the ceiling.

3. I love pats and noogies and headbutts more than anything, even more than food! When I see Jasmine, I usually head for the bed, or my special snoozy spot (a place up high on a pile of storage boxes which Jasmine has covered with lots of soft blankets), and demand pats, rather than heading for the cold box and demanding food.

4. I don't really like to be picked up and held (although I will let Jasmine do this briefly), but other than that I'm a super-friendly poodin. I will very happily give headbutts to, and have conversations with, pretty much everyone.

5. I can distinguish the sound of Jasmine's car from other cars.

The other thing I was thinking when writing this list is that I very much like to 'splore and 'vestigate things and also to sit in boxes, but these aren't weird habits because all poodins love these things! =^..^=

Five things about Jasmine

Jasmine1. She is kinda obsessed with Rubik's cubes and solves them over and over again. Her best time is 20 seconds, her average time is 29-30 seconds. Here's a video of her speedcubing on the London Eye last year. She can also solve it one-handed (although this takes several minutes instead of 30 seconds) which means that she can pat a kitty and solve a cube at the same time!

2. She likes to teach other people how to solve the Rubik's cube. She even wrote a beginner solution, which she has used to teach lotsa beans. Not sure how this would go with poodins though. I think opposable thumbs are pretty important for for being a good Rubik's cube speedsolver.

3. She has always loved poodins very much, even when she was just a little burpy thing. This is obviously not weird since poodins are awesome, but she also told me she doesn't want to have little burpy things, she just wants poodins! Is this weird? Not sure.

4. She is also kinda obsessed with tech gadgets. She loves her iPAQ hx4705 and has it with her always.

5. She likes to combine her obsessions, so she synchronises all the poodin blogs to her iPAQ. This means she can read them on her iPAQ while on the train or while curled up in bed.

Now I tag Storm & Mocha, and Grr, Midnight & Cocoa. I realise this is only two kitty families, but there are five poodins!

Another BK!

Canberra BKI was reading the Calico Girls' blog and saw a comment by a kitty I didn't know (Rascal). Obviously I had to visit his blog and see who he was.

Turns out that he's a lovely shiny BK just like me! We have other things in common too. He also loves to talk and purr very loudly, and he can recognise the difference between his beans' cars and other cars.

Actually, I think I'll stay here

Miaow. Canberra BK here.

Zeus left a comment on my last post and asked if I ended up accompanying Jasmine on her trip. Unfortunately, no, I didn't. She said she was travelling too far and that I needed to stay in Canberra with my official beans. As I mentioned the other day, Jasmine isn't officially one of my beans, I just consider her to be one of my beans because I visit her so much and she is so nice to me.

Anyway, I asked Jasmine 'how far is too far?' She showed me her itinerary and I saw that she was going all the way to London. I don't know how far away that is, or even where that is. The only thing I know about London is that it's where Fat Eric lives. She told me it was about ~17000kms away (that's ~10563 miles for our 'Mericky furriends). I don't know what a 'kms' is, but that number sounds pretty big! Even Mittens Pollypaws would run out of toes trying to count that high!

Jasmine also told me that the weather in London is much, much colder and greyer than in Canberra. The sun must be really scared in London because apparently it rarely ever comes out! I didn't like the sound of that, especially since I don't have a long floofy coat like Fat Eric. I like the sun, especially when it's warming my fur and making it all pretty and shiny! (BTW, thanks Beau and Angie for noticing this the other day!) The other thing I didn't like the sound of is something called 'quarantine'. I'm not really sure what this is, but apparently it involves kitties having to live in a strange place for a while without their beans. So, I decided to wait in Canberra till Jasmine's next visit back.

BTW, Zeus also said that I was very nice of me to offer to keep Jasmine company. To tell you the truth, part of the reason was because I'm a nice kitty, but an even greater reason was because I was going to miss her awesome scritchies so much!

I'm coming too!

Canberra BK here again.

As I mentioned yesterday, it was very nice to have Jasmine back for a visit. So nice in fact, that I didn't want her to go. When she started to pack the car to leave, I climbed on top and told her she had to stay. She told me I was adorable and then just opened up the back to put bags in. I climbed in too.

I hid behind Jasmine's suitcase. I decided that if she was going somewhere then I was going too!

Jasmine must have wanted me to come too because I found a comfy blanket behind the suitcase in the car which was perfect for curling up on.

I settled in for the big trip.
